Baseball Receives Votes in Preseason Top 25 Poll

The La Roche baseball team has received seven votes in D3Baseball's 2012 Preseason Top 25 Poll released this week. The poll is voted on by a panel of twenty-five coaches, sports information directors and media members from across the nation.
The Redhawks started to gain national attention last season when they received top 25 votes for the first time in school history. La Roche finished the 2011 season with a 27-15 record and postseason appearances in both the ECAC and AMCC Tournaments.
La Roche returns a series of contributors from last season's squad and boasts a tough 2012 schedule. Four teams on the upcoming schedule received votes including defending national champion and preseason No. 1, Marietta College. The Redhawks also play No. 11 Alvernia College, Penn State Altoona (two votes) and Frostburg State University (one vote).
La Roche baseball opens their season on February 28 in New Market, VA for a neutral site game against Dickinson College.
Redhawks Fall to Waynesburg in Season Opener

WAYNESBURG, PA – Mitchell Meyers reached base four times and Ed Skonieczny got on base three times but La Roche Baseball (0-2) lost both ends of a double-header to Waynesburg College (2-0) 5-3, 5-4 in their season opener.
In Game 1, Jesse Bauer allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out four batters and walking only two. Tyler Ferguson struck out three batters in his first collegiate appearance and Reed Tomlinson (0-1) recorded the loss.
Meyers went 2 for 4 with a double and two stolen bases and Brad Goedeker had an RBI single and reached base twice. Ryan Fennell, Adam Zimmerman, and Casey Zimmerman each scored runs and Dan Burns recorded two hits.
Game 2 starter, Cole Lentz, allowed only one run on three hits in four innings but got the no decision. James Connelly allowed two runs in two innings of relief and Ian Kelly (0-1) recorded the loss.
All nine Redhawks reached base including Meyers and Sknoieczny who each got on twice. Matt Sabitini went 1 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored and Skonieczny had an RBI. Meyers, Dustin Lalle, and Brian Tougher each scored a run.
Redhawks Split Opening Day in Fort Pierce

FORT PIERCE, FL –La Roche Baseball (1-3) split a double-header with Elizabethtown College (1-1) 4-3 (L), 3-2 (W) in their first day of baseball at the Lawnwood Complex in Fort Pierce, FL.
Cole Lentz started game 1 and threw five strong innings allowing only 3 runs on two hits while striking out two batters. Sean Lubin paced the Redhawks' offense with a single and an RBI double and Mitchell Meyers added an RBI and a run scored. Dan Burns went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Game 2 starting pitcher, Jesse Bauer, threw his first complete game of the season allowing only two runs on five hits. Brian Tougher went 1 for 3 with an RBI-double and a run scored and Ed Skonieczny reached base twice. Sean Lubin and Anthony Girdano finished with two hits apiece in the win.
Baseball Picked to Finish Second in AMCC, Lentz Chosen as Pitcher of the Year

La Roche Baseball was picked to finish second in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference preseason poll voted on by all nine AMCC Conference baseball coaches.
The Redhawks finished the 2011 season with a 27-15 record and postseason appearances in both the ECAC and AMCC Tournaments. La Roche garnered national attention when they received top 25 votes for the first time in school history.
Sophomore pitcher, Cole Lentz, was selected as the AMCC Conference Co-Pitcher of the Year and going 5-2 with a 3.21 era and 53 strikeouts in 53 innings. He was also named to the AMCC All-Conference Second Team last season.
Connelly Throws Complete Game Shutout in Split with W&J

WASHINGTON, PA – James Connelly threw a complete game shutout as La Roche College Baseball (2-9) split with Washington and Jefferson (1-1) 7-6 (L), 3-0 (W) in non –conference action on Tuesday.
Tyler Ferguson started Game 1 and went 4 innings and allowed 6 runs (5 earned runs) on 9 hits while striking out 2 batters. Ian Kelly threw two scoreless innings of relief and Walt Hadjuk allowed a seventh inning run to record the loss.
Dan Burns finished the first game with 3 RBIs and a hit and Casey Zimmerman went 2 for 4 and with an RBI and scored twice. Adam Zimmerman reached base twice and had an RBI triple in the loss.
James Connelly pitched 7 shutout innings and allowed only 6 hits while striking out 2 batters and walking none to record the Game 2 win.
Sean Lubin went 2 for 4 with an RBI and Brian Tougher, Matt Sabitini, and Dan Burns each reached base twice and scored a run. Ed Skonieczny added an RBI in the win.
Sepesy Throws 5 Strong Innings in 3-1 Victory Over Grove City

PITTSBURGH, PA – Redhawks' starting pitcher, Adam Sepesy, threw 5 strong innings and recorded the win in La Roche Baseball's (3-9) 3-1 victory over Grove City (2-6) on Thursday at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field.
La Roche grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Sean Lubin and Casey Zimmerman scored. Lubin was hit by a pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Mitchell Meyers before Brian Tougher singled home Zimmerman. Grove City got an unearned run in the second inning but Tougher scored on an RBI double by Anthony Girdano to put the game away.
Lubin went 2 for 3 with a run scored and was hit by a pitch. Tougher finished with two hits and scored a run and an RBI and Girdano collected two hits including an RBI double. Zimmerman had a run scored and Meyers recorded an RBI.
Sepesy held the visiting Wolverines to just one run (no earned runs) on two hits in five innings to record the win. JJ Tougher, Ryan Fennell, and Walt Hadjuk combined for four shutout innings in relief.
Redhawks Fall in AMCC vs. OAC Challenge

PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche College Baseball (3-11) dropped both games of a double-header to Baldwin Wallace (11-2) 9-6, 11-4 in the AMCC vs. OAC Challenge at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field.
Game 1 starting pitcher, Jesse Bauer, allowed 4 runs on 7 hits while striking out 3 batters in 5 innings of work. Ian Kelly and Walt Hadjuk allowed a run apiece in relief and Ryan Fennell pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
Casey Zimmerman reached base four times and scored a run and Mitchell Meyers went 2 for 4 with two runs scored. Brad Goedeker and Dan Burns finished with two hits and Sean Lubin added 2 RBI.
Reed Tomlinson started Game 2 and allowed 6 runs (3 earned runs) on 9 hits while striking out 3 batters and walking none in 7 innings. John Shaffer threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.
Brian Tougher went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and Colin Fiekles and Ed Skonieczny finished with two hits apiece. Anthony Girdano and Mitchell Meyers recorded RBIs in the loss.
Walk-Off Hit Lifts Redhawks to 10-9 Win Over Allegheny College

PITTSBURGH, PA – Sean Lubin's walk-off single helped lift the Redhawks (6-11) to 10-9 victory over visiting Allegheny College (4-11) on a brisk Monday at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field.
La Roche trailed 8-5 entering the bottom of the eighth inning but broke out the bats to overcome the deficit. Four consecutive Redhawks reached base and Lubin, Brian Tougher, and Dan Burns provided RBI to take a 9-8 lead into the ninth.
Allegheny answered in the top of the ninth to tie it at 9-9, but Sean Lubin hit home Mitchel Meyers to seal the La Roche win.
Starting pitcher, Reed Tomlinson, allowed 7 runs (3 earned runs) on 6 hits in 6 innings and JJ Tougher, Walt Hadjuk, and Jesse Bauer allowed a combined 2 runs in relief. Bauer recorded his second win of the season for the Redhawks.
Lubin reached base four times and went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored and Dustin Lalle scored twice. Ryan Fennell and Casey Zimmerman each registered 2 hits, an RBI and a run scored and Burns added a 2 run single.
The Redhawks totaled a season-high 10 runs on 14 hits in the nine inning game.
Baseball Improves to 4-0 in Conference Play

PITTSBURGH, PA – Cole Lentz and Reed Tomlinson each recorded a quality start as La Roche College Baseball (8-12, 4-0) swept Medaille College (2-15, 0-2) 6-3, 8-3 to improve to 4-0 in AMCC Conference play.
Matt Sabitini hit a three run triple to break up a 3-3 tie in the fifth inning of Game 1. Lentz threw five strong innings and allowed just three runs on six hits while striking out six batters, including four batters in the first two innings. Jesse Bauer threw two scoreless innings to record his second save of the season.
Sabintini finished with 4 RBI and Mitchell Meyers added two RBI. Ed Skonieczny and Anthony Girdano scored two runs a piece and Brian Tougher and Dan Burns each scored once.
Mitchell Meyers and Sean Lubin recorded two RBI singles each in Game 2 to help the Redhawks to an 8-3 win over Medaille. Reed Tomlinson threw all seven innings and allowed only three runs (two earned runs) on five hits while striking out five batters.
Lubin finished with 3 hits, 3 RBI, and 2 stolen bases and Mitchell Meyers went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Ed Skonieczny and Adam Zimmerman scored two runs each in the win.
Redhawks Split Double-Header With Pitt-Greensburg

PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche College Baseball (9-13, 5-1) split a double-header with Pitt-Greensburg (12-14, 4-4) 4-3(L), 4-2(W) in AMCC Conference action on Tuesday at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field.
The Redhawks took advantage of a Pitt-Greensburg Game 1 error and a gem thrown by Tyler Ferguson to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Brian Tougher's double and Dan Burns' 2-run single highlighted a three run third inning, but Pitt-Greensburg put together a string of hits in the sixth inning to take the opener 4-3.
Tyler Ferguson did not allow a hit until the fifth inning and threw 5 1/3 innings while allowing 4 runs on 4 hits. Jesse Bauer completed 1 2/3 innings of work and struck out 2 batters.
Casey Zimmerman paced the Redhawks' offense with 2 hits, 2 stolen bases, a run scored, and an RBI, and Dan Burns added an RBI single. Brian Tougher scored and doubled in the loss.
Sean Lubin and Brian Tougher scored first inning runs and James Connelly shut down the visiting Bobcats as the Redhawks cruised to a 4-2 win in Game 2.
Connelly went 5 2/3 innings and allowed just 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 4 batters. Walt Hadjuk retired the only batter he faced in the sixth inning and Jesse Bauer pitched the seventh inning to record the save.
Brian Tougher reached base three times, scored twice, and added an RBI and Sean Lubin scored and stole a base. Brad Goedeker and Mitchell Meyers recorded RBI and Shane Healey scored a run.
Redhawks Collect School-Record 31 Hits in Split With Hilbert

HAMBURG, NY – La Roche Baseball (10-14, 6-2) collected a school record thirty-one hits in a double-header split with AMCC Conference foe Hilbert College (6-15, 2-6) 3-1 (L), 25-2 (W) on Saturday.
After falling to the host Hawks in Game 1, 3-1, the Redhawks knocked off 31 hits and 37 batters reached base safely in a 25-2 route of Hilbert. La Roche enjoyed a 9-run third inning, 7-run fifth inning, and an 8-run sixth inning in the record breaking game.
Dan Burns went 5 for 6 with 4 RBI and scored twice and Ryan Fennell reached base a career-high six times while adding 4 runs and 3 RBI. Shane Healy finished with 2 doubles to go along with 4 hits, 4 runs, and 3 RBI, and Brian Tougher scored four runs. Brian Herb got on base 5 times and Herb, Mitchell Myers, and Adam Zimmerman each scored 3 times and added 3 RBI.
Reed Tomlinson recorded his second win of the season after tossing four innings of two-run ball. Jesse Bauer, Justin Gorgacz, and JJ Tougher combined for three shutout innings in relief.
Sean Lubin had a leadoff double and scored to open Game 1 but the Redhawks fell to Hilbert 1-0. Lubin went 1 for 3 and Ryan Fennel added two hits. Shane Healy reached base twice with a double and Brian Tougher had a double and a walk.
Cole Lentz threw all six innings for the Redhawks and allowed only one earned run (three runs scored) on four hits to lower his ERA to an AMCC Conference best 1.99 ERA.
Redhawks Use 10-Run Inning to Sweep D'Youville

PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche Baseball (13-14, 8-2) used a 10-run inning to sweep D'Youville College (4-19, 2-8) in a double-header 16-2, 5-1in AMCC Conference play on Saturday at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field. The 10-run inning was highlighted by an RBI-triple from Mitchell Meyers.
Brian Tougher extended his hit-streak to 17 games and went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI, and scored twice as the Redhawks won Game one 16-2. Matt Sabatini and Dustin Lalle both went 2 for 3 and scored 2 runs and Mitchell Meyers recorded a two-RBI triple.
James Connelly (4-0) recorded the win to move into third-place on La Roche's all-time wins list. He threw 6 strong innings and allowed just 2 runs on 7 hits while striking out 4 batters and walking only one. JJ Tougher threw a scoreless inning of relief to lower his ERA to 2.35.
Casey Zimmerman doubled and scored to break up a 1-1 tie and help guide the Redhawks to a 5-1 Game 2 win. Sean Lubin went 2 for 4 with 2 runs and 2 stolen bases and Dustin Lalle reached twice and stole home.
Starting pitcher Reed Tomlinson was dominant allowing just 1 run on 2 hits while striking out a season-high 8 batters. He recorded his third win of the season and lowered his ERA to 3.25. Walt Hadjuk and Jesse Bauer combined for two perfect innings of relief.
C. Zimmerman Has Big Day In Double-Header Split With Penn St. Altoona

ALTOONA, PA – La Roche Baseball (14-15, 9-3) split a pair of games with AMCC Conference rival Penn State Altoona (13-18, 7-7) 6-4 (W), 11-1 (L) on Tuesday at Stewart Athletic Field in Altoona, PA.
La Roche used a 5-run fifth inning to take control of Game 1. Five consecutive Redhawks reached base and scored in the inning including Casey Zimmerman who contributed a 3-RBI double.
C. Zimmerman finished with 3 hits, 2 doubles, 3 RBI, and scored twice, and Dan Burns reached base three times and added an RBI. Dustin Lalle went 2 for 3 with a run scored and Matt Sabatini drew two walks.
Tyler Ferguson did not allow an earned run in 5 1/3 innings of work in Game 1 to earn his first collegiate win. Jesse Bauer did not allow a run for his eighth consecutive game to record his fourth save of the season.
Four Redhawks reached base in the first inning of Game 2 but La Roche could not score as they fell 11-1. Casey Zimmerman had 2 hits including his second double of the day to lead La Roche. Brian Tougher had a hit, walk, and RBI, and Sean Lubin scored.
La Roche Baseball will host Penn State Behrend in a double-header on Saturday. Saturday is Senior Day where Justin Gorgacz, Dustin Lalle, Mitchell Meyers, Adam Sepesy, Ed Skonieczny, and Reed Tomlinson will be honored.
Redhawks Sweep Extra-Inning Double-Header Against Penn State Behrend, Climb Into First Place in AMCC Conference

PITTSBURGH, PA -- La Roche Baseball (15-14, 11-3) took a half game lead in the AMCC Conference standings with a double-header sweep of Penn State Behrend (21-10, 10-3) 6-5 (12 innings), 4-3 in a thriller at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field on Sunday.
The Redhawks trailed 5-2 in the fifth inning of Game 1 but three consecutive one-run singles sent the game into extra innings. Dustin Lalle led off the inning with a walk and Casey Zimmerman, Brian Tougher, Ryan Fennell, and Dan Burns followed with singles. La Roche and Penn State Behrend both had chances to win it before Adam Zimmerman singled home Dan Burns in the bottom of the twelfth.
Brian Tougher got on base four times and hit in 3 runs while Casey Zimmerman and Dan Burns each recorded 2 hits and a run scored. Dustin Lalle scored twice and Ryan Fennel got on three times and added an RBI.
Cole Lentz and Jesse Bauer threw 6 innings apiece in the win. Lentz allowed 5 runs (3 earned runs) on 5 hits while striking out 3 batters and walking none. Bauer did not allow a run and struck out 6 batters in relief.
Dustin Lalle and Shane Healey provided sixth inning doubles and Tyler Ferguson threw a scoreless seventh inning to lift the Redhawks to a 4-3 Game 2 win.
Brian Tougher finished with 3 hits and Shane Healy went 2 for 3 with a double, RBI and scored twice. Dustin Lalle and Casey Zimmerman scored runs and Ryan Fennell and Dan Burns contributed RBI.
Reed Tomlinson allowed only 3 runs (2 earned runs) in 5 1/3 innings of work while striking out a career-high 10 batters. Tyler Ferguson threw 1 2/3 of scoreless relief to record the win.
Redhawks Win AMCC Conference Regular Season Title!

JOHNSTOWN, PA – La Roche Baseball (20-15, 13-3) won their second-ever AMCC Conference Regular Season Title and clinched home-field advantage in the AMCC Conference Tournament with a double-header sweep of Mt. Aloysius College (12-21-1, 7-6-1) 5-2, 9-5 on Wednesday at Point Stadium in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
Tyler Ferguson pitched a gem to lead La Roche in a 5-2 Game 1 win. Ferguson recorded the win after tossing 5 2/3 innings and allowed just 2 runs (1 earned run) on 2 hits while striking out a career-high 10 batters and walking just one. Jesse Bauer threw a perfect 1 1/3 innings to register his fifth save of the season.
Sean Lubin and Dan Burns both went 2 for 4 with an RBI and scored and Shane Healey reached twice, scored twice, and stole a base. Mitchell Meyers belted his second triple of the season and Ryan Fennell drew 2 walks and scored.
La Roche used three consecutive RBI-doubles to break up a 5-5 sixth inning tie and clinch the conference championship in Game 2.
All ten Redhawk starters reached base including Dan Burns who got on base four times. Burns went 3 for 3 with a double, walk, and 2 RBI and Ryan Fennell finished with 2 singles, an RBI double, and scored a run. Adam Zimmerman and Dustin Lalle reached base three times apiece and scored twice, and Brian Tougher had an RBI-double and scored twice. Walt Hadjuk struck out 4 batters in 3 1/3 innings to record the win.
Goedeker's Homer Leads La Roche in Sweep of Case Western

PITTSBURGH, PA – Brad Goedeker hit his first career home run and went 5 for 5 on the day as the Redhawks (20-16) swept a double-header over Case Western Reserve (26-15-1) 9-6, 5-3 for their eleventh win in thirteen games.
Sean Lubin, Shane Healey, and Brad Goedeker each had RBI singles in the fifth inning to break up a 6-6 tie in the Game 1 win.
Goedeker went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 RBI, and 3 runs scored and Brian Tougher finished with 4 hits and 2 RBI. Dustin Lalle posted 2 hits and added 3 RBI and a run while Sean Lubin collected 3 RBI. Shane Healey went 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI in the 9-6 win.
Walt Hadjuk allowed 1 run (no earned runs) in 1 inning of relief to register his second win of the season and Jesse Bauer threw 2 perfect innings for his six save.
Brad Goedeker belted a three-run home run and Brian Tougher broke up a 3-3 tie with a 2-RBI single to lead La Roche to a 5-4 Game 2 win.
Goedeker got on base three times in addition to his three-run shot and Brian Tougher reached base 3 times and added 2 RBI. Shane Healey and Mitchell Meyers both recorded 2 hits and Sean Lubin had a hit, walk, and was hit by a pitch.
Starting pitcher, James Connelly, recorded his sixteenth career win to move into third place all-time on La Roche's wins list. Jesse Bauer registered his seventh save of the season.

Redhawks' Baseball Tops Defending National Champion #1 Marietta in Game 2 of Double-Header

MARIETTA, OH – La Roche College Baseball (21-17) split a double-header with the defending national champion #1 Marietta College (33-6) 1-0 (L) (11 innings), 7-3 (W) on Saturday. The win is this senior classes' second against Marietta having beaten them in 2009.
Tyler Ferguson, James Connelly, and Jesse Bauer gave the Redhawks great pitching performances and the La Roche defense was terrific in the 1-0 Game 1 loss. La Roche had runners in scoring position in the fourth, seventh, and eighth innings but could not advance the runners home before Marietta won it in the eleventh.
Tyler Ferguson started and allowed only 5 hits in 6 shutout innings while James Connelly recorded an out in the seventh inning. Jesse Bauer allowed only 1 run in 3 2/3 innings of relief.
Ryan Fennell went 2 for 4 and Shane Healey reached base 3 times. Matt Sabatini, Sean Lubin, and Dustin Lalle provided hits for the Redhawks.
Shane Healey and Sean Lubin led off Game 2 with singles before Ryan Fennell's 2-RBI double gave the Redhawks a 2-0 first inning lead. The host Pioneers answered with a run in the bottom of the first but three consecutive singles by Brian Tougher, Fennell, and Brad Goedeker and RBI's from Adam Zimmerman, Mitchell Meyers, and Dustin Lalle extended the lead to 5-1. Tougher and Goedeker scored fourth inning runs to take a 7-1 lead and Reed Tomlinson and Walt Hadjuk combined to allow just 2 runs over the final 4 innings in the win.
Reed Tomlinson recorded his second win against Marietta and fourth of the season after allowing only 2 runs in 4 innings. Walt Hadjuk allowed just 1 run in 3 innings to register the save.
Ryan Fennell went 2 for 4 with a two-run double, and a run scored while Brian Tougher reached base twice and scored twice. Adam Zimmerman got on base 3 times and added 2 RBI and Brad Goedeker finished with 2 RBI. Shane Healy went 2 for 4 with a run in the win.

BASEBALL TO HOST AMCC 1ST ROUND

The La Roche College Baseball team finished the 2010 regular season in a tie for third place in the AMCC. The tiebreaker criteria for the AMCC places them as the #4 seed and they will play host to Mt. Aloysius College this Saturday at 1pm. The first two games best of three series will be played on Saturday May 8th and game three if necessary will be on Sunday at 1pm.
REDHAWKS SWEPT, ELIMINATED FROM AMCC TOURNAMENT

PITTSBURGH, pa -- La Roche College Baseball (21-17) was swept by Mt. Aloysius College 18-7, 3-2 eliminating them from the AMCC Tournament. The Mounties scored six runs in the second inning and eight runs in the fourth inning to take a commanding 14-5 lead on their way to an eventual 18-7 Game 1 win. Redhawks' starting pitcher James Connelly (4-1) went three innings allowing 12 runs (6 earned runs) on 9 hits while striking out 4. Pitcher Addison Schereth went two innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned runs) and JJ Tougher pitched two innings in relief allowing 3 runs (1 earned run) on 2 hits. Right fielder George Nahay went 2 for 4 with a solo home run and Jim Rubino went 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs in the loss. In Game 2, the Mounties scored two runs in the first inning and one in the second inning and starting pitcher Sean Steffy held the Redhawks hitless through three innings. Redhawks' designated hitter Dan Novak led off the top of the fourth inning with a double and scored on a single by shortstop Matt Royle. The Redhawks cut the deficit to one in the bottom of the fifth inning when third baseman Dan Pickard scored on a Novak single. However, the Redhawks could not manage another run and fell to the Mounties 3-2. Redhawks' starting pitcher Adam Sepesy went 4 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 4 and Reed Tomlinson pitched a perfect 2 2/3 innings in relief striking out three. Novak went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored and first baseman Brett Spanola went 1 for 3 with an RBI.

The La Roche College Baseball team earned a bid into the 2010 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. This is La Roche's first automatic bid to the ECAC Tournament and they will play host to Grove City College on Wednesday at 3pm at La Roche's John Arnold Memorial Field. The winner will go onto to the ECAC Tourament, May 22-23 in Dover, Delaware.

PITTSBURGH, pa -- #6 La Roche College Baseball (22-17) scored six runs in the ninth inning to defeat #3 Grove City College (19-20) 8-6 in the ECAC Division III South Regional Quarterfinals at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field. Redhawks' starting pitcher James Connelly threw 4 1/3 innings allowing five runs on seven hits and Addison Schereth got the win in relief. Third baseman Jimmy Rubino and shortstop Dan Novak each went 2 for 5 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. The Redhawks will travel to Dover, Delaware on Saturday, May 22 at 9:00AM to play Neumann College in the ECAC Division III South Regional Semifinals.

Dover, DE – La Roche College Baseball (22-18) lost to Neumann University 6-3 in the ECAC South Regional Tournament Semifinals. The Redhawks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning when shortstop Dan Novak hit a solo home run over the centerfield wall. The Knights answered in the bottom half of the inning with two runs and added a run in the sixth inning to make it 3-1. La Roche tied it at 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning. Left fielder John Caruso led off the inning with a double and scored two batters later on a Jimmy Rubino double. Novak followed with a double down the left field line to score Rubino. Neumann answered again in the bottom of the eighth inning scoring three runs and held on to win 6-3. Redhawks' starting pitcher Adam Sepesy threw six innings allowing three runs on three hits while striking out eight. Addison Schereth pitched two innings of relief allowing three runs on two hits. Novak and Rubino each went 2 for 5 with a run scored.
Baseball Predicted to Finish 4th in AMCC Conference

La Roche Baseball was picked to finish fourth in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference preseason poll. The poll is voted on by all ten AMCC Conference baseball coaches.
The Redhawks finished with a 22-18 overall record and 13-7 conference record last season. They were tied for third place in the conference and lost to Mt. Aloysius in the First Round of the AMCC Tournament.
Senior outfielder, George Nahay, was chosen as a player to watch.
La Roche Falls to Neumann University in Final Spring Game

FORT PIERCE, FL – The Redhawks (6-2) late rally came up short as they fell to Neumann University (7-0) 4-2 in their final spring trip game.
La Roche trailed 4-0 entering the ninth inning before scoring two runs to cut the deficit in half. The Redhawks then loaded the bases but could not convert as they lost in nine innings.
JJ Tougher pitched four strong innings but got the loss after allowing one earned run. Ryan Fennel went four innings and gave up only one hit while striking out four.
La Roche out hit Neumann 8 to 5 and Brian Herb and Anthony Girdano each had two hits apiece.
JJ's is redshirted for the season with a shoulder injury.

The La Roche College Baseball team finished the 2010 regular season in a tie for third place in the AMCC. The tiebreaker criteria for the AMCC places them as the #4 seed and they will play host to Mt. Aloysius College this Saturday at 1pm. The first two games best of three series will be played on Saturday May 8th and game three if necessary will be on Sunday at 1pm.
REDHAWKS SWEPT, ELIMINATED FROM AMCC TOURNAMENT

PITTSBURGH, pa -- La Roche College Baseball (21-17) was swept by Mt. Aloysius College 18-7, 3-2 eliminating them from the AMCC Tournament. The Mounties scored six runs in the second inning and eight runs in the fourth inning to take a commanding 14-5 lead on their way to an eventual 18-7 Game 1 win. Redhawks' starting pitcher James Connelly (4-1) went three innings allowing 12 runs (6 earned runs) on 9 hits while striking out 4. Pitcher Addison Schereth went two innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned runs) and JJ Tougher pitched two innings in relief allowing 3 runs (1 earned run) on 2 hits. Right fielder George Nahay went 2 for 4 with a solo home run and Jim Rubino went 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs in the loss. In Game 2, the Mounties scored two runs in the first inning and one in the second inning and starting pitcher Sean Steffy held the Redhawks hitless through three innings. Redhawks' designated hitter Dan Novak led off the top of the fourth inning with a double and scored on a single by shortstop Matt Royle. The Redhawks cut the deficit to one in the bottom of the fifth inning when third baseman Dan Pickard scored on a Novak single. However, the Redhawks could not manage another run and fell to the Mounties 3-2. Redhawks' starting pitcher Adam Sepesy went 4 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 4 and Reed Tomlinson pitched a perfect 2 2/3 innings in relief striking out three. Novak went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored and first baseman Brett Spanola went 1 for 3 with an RBI.
